Transfer Between Work Locations
Where the Department wishes to reassign work to a VPS staff member that will require a change to the work location, two week's notice must be given or a lesser period if agreement is reached between the Department and the staff member.
If a staff member believes that a proposed temporary or permanent relocation would create demonstrable hardship, the Department must consider any alternative proposal put by the staff member.
Excess travelling time
Any VPS staff member who is temporarily required to undertake duties at a location other than his or her usual place or places of work will have any period of additional travelling time regarded as time worked.
Permanent relocation of usual place of work
Subject to the exception in the last paragraph under this heading, any VPS staff member who is required by the Department to travel to a new work location as a result of transfer or redeployment, will be paid a once only allowance in compensation for all disturbance factors arising from transfer or redeployment not otherwise provided for in the VPS Agreement 2006.
The payments will be as follows:
| Date of Effect | Allowance |
|
4 May 2009 |
$1,075 |
|
1 July 2009 |
$1,097 |
|
1 February 2010 |
$1,111 |
|
1 October 2010 |
$1,147 |
The allowance(s) will be paid on the following basis:
• an allowance in accordance with the Agreement for the first 30 minutes of additional total daily travel time required or 30 kilometres additional daily distance or part thereof; and
• a further equivalent allowance for each additional 30 minutes or 30 kilometres or part thereof.
An exception to this is that no such allowance will be paid where the total additional distance to be travelled is 10 kilometres or under.
RESIDENTIAL RELOCATION PRINCIPLES
General Principles
Where the Department considers that it is reasonable and necessary for a VPS staff member to move residence as a result of relocation from one work location to another, and the relocation arises from promotion or transfer as a result of an advertised vacancy, or redeployment, the staff member will be entitled to:
- up to three days paid leave associated with the relocation; and
- reimbursement of reasonable expenses associated with the relocation clause.
Reasonable relocation expenses
Relocation expenses include reasonable expenses directly incurred by the VPS staff member and his or her family as a result of:
- the journey to the new location, including meals and accommodation;
- removal, storage and insurance; and
- selling and purchasing of a comparable residence (eg. fees, taxes and commissions).
