Career Change Program
Overview
The Career Change Program enables suitably qualified professionals with relevant experience to undertake teacher education while employed as supervised trainee teachers. The program targets people with current industry knowledge and expertise who would make excellent teachers in the targeted subject areas of mathematics, science physics, information technology, LOTE, music, physical education or technology.
Participation in the program is by way of school memorandum. Priority will be given to rural schools, however, additional targeted places are available under the Wannik Career Change Program to enable schools to appoint non-teaching Koorie professionals as teacher trainees.
Under the Program trainees receive financial support and paid study leave as they combine supervised classroom duties with study towards a teaching qualification during a two year training period. Study support allowances will vary according to the type of school to which the trainee is appointed.
